Today is July 1,all the computers sold in China should be preinstalled the Green Dam Youth Escort software from today,as Chinese government has announced in May,But the plan was delayed now,The ministry of Industry and Information Technology said that the computer manufacturers need more time to prepare.
The government's official news agency annouced the statement hours before the Green Dam was originally mandated to be included on all computers sold in China. The plan had met with criticism from a great many China's netizens and bloggers. The government's intention is good, but the problem is whether they were qualified to do this.
It's "another lesson learned in the benefits of transparency in the rule-making process," said James Zimmerman, a longtime business leader in Beijing and partner with law firm Squire Sanders & Dempsey. "Without a general buy-in from industry and consumers and ample time for compliance, the inevitable reaction is push-back from the public, and especially given the sense that the rules may be legally unsound and adopted with a questionable motive in mind."
